6 hours broken down should i be worried ?

hi all im finally home after breaking down today and was wondering if anyone can help ?
i was driving along at 70mph and the oil pressure light started flashing ,
then had the dreaded engine noise as it was out of oil ?
i then lost power and died
it then wouldnt start or turnover ( my concerns were seized )
anyway when it cooled down it ran for 3 secs ( roughly ) and then died .
in all your experience should i be worried and expect a big bill ?
any help to help me sleep tonight would be gratefully received

The only thing you can do is top up the oil if it starts and runs you've been very lucky, if it doesn't run then you probably need an engine.

i have only just bought the car and noticed it hasnt been serviced for a few years and the oil is black so my mechanic thinks that cleaning the gauze in the sump and oil flush to clear the oil pump and new filter with new oil is the problem but i havent a clue

At first, I would take the cam belt cover off, to see if the belt have slipped a tooth or two. That's of course only if you have g-series engine in it.

If it doesn't say DOHC on the rocker cover, then it's a g-series engine with t-belt and not chain.
