Clutch change, How long.

Has anyone had a garage do a clutch change in an 02 Jimny?
If so how many hours labour did they charge for.
There was a time not so long ago that I would not have dreamed of putting a car into a garage for such a mundane job. But health issues have taken over, sadly.

They will probably charge a full day 7-8 hrs ...and they wont be far from the mark mate

ive never taken a vehicle to a garage so not sure how many hours they charge for changing a clutch but if they do charge for a full day 7-8 hours they are either not very good at there job or ripping you off a mechanic with a fully equiped garage with lifts should be able to do the job in no more than 3 hours

if you got to take it to a garage you be best taking it to a specialist clutch garage

I replaced a gearbox and clutch on my jimny in 5 hours in the pouring rain with the front wheels up on wheel ramps and I've never fitted a gearbox in a jimny before.

No idea how long a garage would take. To be honest if its an agreed price that your happy with, then it doesnt matter unless ur nuts enough to wait while its done!

I am half way through mine (clutch now removed) and I am very new to the mechanics game and upto about 4hours now. I did follow Martins guide and removed the transfer box, exhaust front pipe, front 2 propshafts and eased back starter the motor (dont know if all that is strictly necessary though :dry: )

On a slightly different note I burnt the clutch out offroading and it stunk! Infact I just got it home. The confusing thing is that when I removed it I expected the friction plate to be down to the rivets, but it wasn't :S

It was very shiny though and had some deep gouges in it. Does this sound right.
