Yeah I had a look around at the 6.5 ratio tbox last night after reading your post, seems to be the way I'm heading, Funny enough Rockwatt's name came up a few times!!

Sorry I don't agree with you here, Breakages are down to driving style and/or poor maintenance.
I used to drive a defender with standard running gear with 35 inch simex tyres and only ever blew a front diff, which was my fault.
If your competing (which is all this truck is for) then the extra ground clearance is going to be of great benifit especially in the southwest where most events are in deep mud.

For the minute I have to build a cage and save up some dosh for the running gear, I've been running local events this year and now are season is getting quiet I'll have more time to get building.

You may not agree. But then you'll perhaps settle with last place in competitions?
I don't think it's just for the good looks that so many comp-trucks have heavy duty axles and shafts fitted.
