Good info so far, gearing will need to be changed to rocklobster or rock crawler, atleast a 4 inch lift and body cutting is needed with possibly a wide arch kit.
From the link I learned that for 33 inch tyres you can use standard running gear and from another I learned you have to upgrade it all so the jury is out on that.
Add to all this my own knowledge and I have a pretty good way ahead.

I have 33's on 3" lift(pics are found on the last page of 33" thread) ;)

And what comes to axle strength, I must say that even though you might manage to get those cv's last up to some point by driving carefully, the fact still is that the jimny front axle is one of the weakest solid axles ever made in stock form. But I'd say that just fit those tires, and go and see how the axles hold up for you, and if you break something, put some upgraded shafts and cv's in(there are some 33 proof shafts and cv's in the making by Russ from jimnybits, and those should be available in the first quarter of next year or something) :)

Thats the beauty of building things for yourself, you can trial new things and if it dont work try something else.

Consider using axle trusses top and bottom to increase axle strength, Also I use knuckle gussets which I believe help.
The only difficulty I have on 235/75/15 tyres is deep ruts where my leading arms dig in, 33"s are tempting, but I like a challenge.
With 235/75/15 tyres, rear locker and 4.16 rocklobster I'm happy with mine.

I have 2 sets of tyres, 33in kumhos for road cruiseing and 265/75/r16 for offroad which are ran at 10psi. i Ran standard transfer box for a while but it was shit offroad. With even a rocklobster u can just crawl anywhere u want , with open diffs and clear them landrover ruts.
I would recommend 33s to everyone but they would not suit certain driveing styles and you would have to expect some possible axle issues but touch wood i havent yet.
Also smaller tyres on jimny can be alot more fun and easiers.

I have 33" 's 6.5 reduction gears & stock axles with no drama or damage to the axles! 6.5's allow for slower, more controlled driving.

It all depends on what you want to do/drive and how.
