A quick volt meter install project was created by Paul4x4
I put a volt meter on my Jimny the other day, and I thought I would like to share. I try to keep everything I make as clean and simple as possible, and when I found a perfect spot in the Jim for a volt meter I had laying around, I installed the thing, and below you can see the result.

I didn't take any pics of the installation progress itself, because this is a pretty straight forward job. Just pulled that plastic center console off, and cut a hole in it with a Dremel. Earth wire went under a bolt that holds the airbag control unit in place(which is found under the console just behind the volt meter), and the + wire went to a yellow wire under the steering column that has power only when the ignition is turned on. The meter is kinda tight fit in there because of that airbag box thingy, but there's just enough room for it because the console mounting holes are a little loose so it allows it to be pulled back some.

It has a nice blue backlight, and the numbers are big and easy to read. And I like how it sits there under the dash a little bit so the blue light doesn't shine to my eyes all the time when I'm driving, and I can still see the reading with a quick glance! B)

I bought the meter from dealextreme some time ago, and here's a link to it if you're interested.

Hope this helps someone! :)

Not running in that pic. With the engine running, it gives something between 13.8-14.5 range like it should. :)

Looks good, but your battery is flat- should read between 12.6 and 12.8 (without the ignition and lights on)

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)
