Help - Scraping noise

I dont know if its with all cars

but I know with my previous jimny, the pads on that had a metal bar put inside the pad

so that when they get low, it makes a horrible noise, im guessing to tell you they are getting low

but in the process it also makes the disc pitted

it will gut a groove into the disc, depending how long you leave it, it will go 1/2 or so mm deep

And a garage didnt spot that....... I'd be changing your garage/machanic.....that's basic stuff! :ohmy:

That will be the wear indicator, quite a lot of vehicles have it, or electric wear indicators.

you're lucky i inspected my pads to find one on the passenger side down to the metal. similar on drivers side - caliper rebuild :)

standard jimny - for now

As I said, discs and pads were replaced in Nov, so I'd be surprised if they had worn so quick! I no longer have the noise, so I feel like a proper mech now :-P
