have you got those funny pyramid shaped things/washers (they have a slit in them) on the thread, so they go between the FW-Hub and the head of the bolt?

Jalapeño, IISY?

I've seen this happening on SJ, Toyota and Nissan axles too. My only theory is that the bolts come loose a little bit, and allow the hub to rotate slightly, and after that the bolts will fail under stress when the hub turns and "hits" against them.

And all of those have happened with manual hubs, so I guess it doesn't matter what kind of hubs you have...

Make sure you have those "cone washers" in place or what ever they are called. And I would also use some thread lock on the bolts to prevent them coming loose.

Where abouts are they snapping? E.g just the heads snapping off? Any chance you over torque them when installing and weakening them?

I use studlock and just nip them up really, lost the cone washers a long time ago, but i have been using cap head screws (allen bolt head) which tighten into the taper the washer should use thus securing the hub in position. They shear off level with the wheel hub itself, i.e. there's nothing sticking out when the spacer and FWH are off.

The cone washer is a key part in preventing them from snapping... as it deflects rather than snapping the bolt.

This is where your problem lies... you need to re-fit all new cone washers, split washers and studs...
