Had a cracking days laning with the guys yesterday in the Peaks, saw some hard working volunteers repairing a culvert on Stanage , brave men in horizontal snow !
On the way down a very steep lane which we know as 'slippery lane' in 1st gear low box (6:1) I snapped all six bolts on the freewheeling hub again, Ive had standard ish bolts, heavy duty bolts, and high tensile bolts and snapped them all now.
Looking at it one way its a failure and I need to find a workround, looking another way maybe its a weak link and if I hadn't have broken those bolts then maybe the shaft would have let go?
Anybody else have this problem? I'm thinking of changing to AVM hubs but they arn't too cheap.

Thoughts please - and dont mention fixed hubs as I'd still snap the bolts !

Gary

I've never broken them Russ, not on any of my jimnys, cant work it out.

Yep, the really steep concrete lane not far from the western edge of Stanage, had a coming together there in the snow the other year, me into the back of mate Andys red jimny - pushed his spare through the back window... oops.. then Dave of Bits for Vits fame ran his very heavy duty winch bumper into the back of me lol.

Just mine damaged this time though.
