King Pins renewal was created by wanderinstar
Is kingpins a misnomer? I called in at BCC Suzuki in Blackburn and was told to check kinpins as they were a recognised problem on Jimny's.He also said that it was a £400 job. On doing a bit of researchI see that kingpin BEARINGS and SHIMS are available. Is this what "goes".If so it is hardly £400 to replace them, surely?

Suzuki always replace both the Kingpins and the Bearings at the same time and then charge on top of that their value for money prices!!

However, 99% of the time you can get away with just changing the Bearings for £23.50 per side.

Thank you for that Martin.I was thinking back to A55 Cambridge dat. When you had an actual pin and bronze bushes you had to press in and then ream out. Couldn't imagine how that system worked with front wheel drive.

The jimny has swivel bearings not kingpins, but in the face of a majority who call them kingpins, I eventually conceded defeat and went with the flow. :side:

Now the MGB in the garage has kingpins, another excellent Austin design, use a screw thread as a bearing at the bottom.

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)
