has anyone fitted a rear winch? if so what kind of bumpers have you done and how have you mounted it?
any ideas would be great as come across a cheap winch!
is it going to add to much weight?

Don't be tempted to fit it in the "toolbox" in the boot of the JImny and then have the cable run out through the rear bumper. Mine was like this and the boot was permanently full of water and the car was always covered in condensation.
Eventually I welded it all up.

i was thinking of doing that, but having you said that i wont as the winter weather would be a pain
if i sit the winch under it would it be to low? maybe i could cut the toolbox bit out and weld in a flat bit and have the winch higher

If it's in the boot floor moisture gets in the car and causes condensation and probably more noise in the cab through the fairlead hole.
If it's under the boot floor it's gonna get covered in water, gloop and crap and need more regular maintenance.
I really would like a rear winch but it would have to be a Goodwinch Goldfish to have enough sealing for the water and crap and they aint the cheapest winch about. I would have it under the floor. I bought a hard top for the dry and quiet.
