That's not a bad idea using a motorbike exhaust.
I was looking last night while playing with the winch tray, theres not a lot of room for an exhaust but a motorbike I reckon will fit, I might look on ebay later as iv only got about 8inchs behind the tray.
That would be good then as it would be stainless steel.
I didn't no there was two tds types, is there much difference in price? I was thinking of a superwinch but champion winches are priced quite cheap.
I also need to think about recovery points somewhere on the rear.

The Tds is by a long way the best electric winch Champion sell. I don't think there is much to call it price wise new, but used, the Goodwinch ones tend to sell for more.
The only thing likely to go wrong with a used winch is the motor - so would even consider buying a broken one. Giggle pin sells the original motors taken off 8274's when they are replaced with Bowmotor2's. These are good value as an upgrade or repair.
Superwinch winches tend to be expensive as you are paying for the name. They do have a few extra toys on their new range of winches - but I'm not convinced of their worth in practice.

im going to save a bit off money up and get a decent winch for the front and just put my champion on the rear, so i will most likely go for a goodwinch as there based only 10 miles from me, and he's seen around the challange events in devon, il go and see him and see what he has to offer
i have seen a couple on ebay spare and repairs going so it could be an idea

just picked up a warn6000Ib winch looks mint, with dyneema bowrope synthetic rope, with comp hook and a goodwinch alloy hawse for £100
its a faster retrieve than my champion winch so ill put the warn up the front and the champion at the rear.
