I've been trying google, but can't find answer to this:

What is the weight of the Jimny engine, with and without complete transmission?

In about 3 weeks I'm buying a Jimny, and as some of you know I won't settle with the Jimny engine Just trying to figure out if a 200kg engine is too much weight in the front

Go with the cossie! I remember my parents had a granny scorpio cossie back in 92, Proper car!
De-cat, Superchip ect Standard 0-60 in 8.2 seconds 24v! ummmmm

And I just don't like BMW's!

This is all still only in my head since I'm still at work, at sea

There are pro's and con's of both engines. The cossie engine has plenty power and torque, but it's petrol and I suspect not good water. but a bit heavier than the BMW M51.

The BMW engine is diesel, so not nothing to worry about when submerged. But it's 60 bhp less. And I'm worried that it's too long to fit in the Jimny without having to put the radiator in the back of the car.

What else is there of +100 bhp diesel RWD with automatic gearbox? I'm looking for older diesels without much electronics and so on

The TD4 freelander/BMW, these re-map to 170bhp easily. I think the cossie was only about 190bhp back in the good old days.

Is that the M51 you're talking about?
I suppose that if the BMW engine has been fitted to a LR it would be rather easy to find an automatic gearbox with transfer box.

The cossie is either model BOA 194 or BOB 207 bhp.

Yes, Land rover used the BMW engine in the freelander td4 but it was seriously restricted. A friend who does engine re-maps (pro-tune) owned a freelander td4 van and tried to sell me it, he had re-mapped it and so really shifted as it would have performed if fitted in a 3 series. But however I personally have no interest in BMW or LR products. So my knowledge is little!.
Maybe you will easily find a donor td4 freelander for your project.

I just looked some TD4 stuff up on Ebay.. Is the Freelander with low-range 4x4?

I read online a man in america winning a rockcrawling event with super low gearing and a rotary engine .
I would like so very much to be able to do this for a project as they are an easy engine to strip down.
They rev real high, handy if you need to stay in a gear on a climb.
