Recommend a remote central locking/alarm upgrade?

I've always fitted Cobra alarms and never had any problems, it also helps that a mate of mine is a Cobra dealer.

That looks great. I like the remote start. That would suit me. Get it defrosted before I set off. Was it easy to fit?

I'll let you know, I only ordered it today. Next weekend's project methinks. Auto starts are great, I've used them before in Canada. In the kitchen with the kettle on and just blip through the window to get her warmed up. Just don't leave in gear.

Fitted it in about 1.5hrs, until I got to the central locking aspect! The diagram was not clear, and it was pure trial and error until I got it to work. Cannot remember at the moment what I did, but if anyone ever gets stuck I can have a look and I am sure all will come back!

As for using it, it's great. Nice to be able to remotely unlock the doors, has the auto lock function if I do not open a door. Also locks the doors when I drive off, then unlocks when I turn engine off. The micro sensor is a bit silly with the dancing lights flashing away, but I have taped over them and all is now fine.

I did request the single tone alarm though, as the 6 tone one clearly sounds like a cr*p after market one.

I am sure it would be easy to bypass, but most self fit ones are, and after all it is only there as a deterrent, if they want the car they will get it!

ive already started to locate the wires needed and the locations for all the controll boxes, most of the wires are in the passenger footwell behind the kickplate.

the boxes will probably all be located behind the headunit and clock panel apart from the main unit which will go under the dash on top of the phone holder compartment thats next to the steering column, this seems to be the highest place you can get to without taking the dash out and its nice and hidden.

ive fitted the siron in the engine bay next to the washer bottle and the pin switch is next to the rubber bonnet stop near the passenger headlight, seems to be the only place the bonnet gets close enough to disconnect the switch.

the final wiring will be done friday hopefully by my electrially savy dad lol.

i could do with removing the passenger headlight unit to make it easier to get to the bottom of the pin switch but cant seem to find out how to do this, i undid the 2 screws you can see (one on top of the unit and one to the side) but still couldnt get it out.

has anyone removed the light and if so can you impart some words of wisdom please.

When those tqo bolts are out it pulls out. It is held in by friction pins so wiggle it and itll pop out but dont drop it.

Ill also be fitting a good alarm once finished too. Never be to safe
