valve clearances was created by small-torque
Hi there. Simple question to ask. I have a 2007 model jimny and wondered if anyone can tell me if the valve clearances are adjustable or hydraulic as my engine is starting to sound a bit tappety on fire up for a couple of minutes. Anyone?

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

Adjustable by flicking out shims and replacing them. Quite a lot of trouble.
If it sounds tappety when cold, it might be piston slap, just at startup check the timing chain tensioner is working.
Actually, a 2007 is a VVT engine: does it have 5/30 oil in it?
How many miles has it done?

The engine has done 38000 miles and is due its service (actually 2000 miles overdue:blush: ). Not sure about oil. Is 5/30 the correct one to use then?
To check the timing chain tensioner, what do you suggest?
Any advise appreciated, I may just be worrying over nothing:S

Get the oil and filter changed and see if the noise goes.
Suzukis don't like dirty oil, they will seize a cam in no time.
