If it is the front something is wrong, it should not even go round unless you are in 4wd, so it should never have worn out on tarmac ;)

Assuming you don't try for 4wd, and the hubs are not stuck locked it will last forever.

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)

front is even easyer than rear to change & i also have front diff available if you decide you need one

I have a sneaking suspicion it took some abuse a long while ago in some bad weather i had been using 4wd. I changed the oil in both diffs a while later, when i went to drain the front it had a dribble of oil in. I obviously refilled and have always took care to check the levels since!

Hubs are now manual so i no longer have any sticky hub issues!
Its still providing drive to the front wheels without issue so far, does this mean an end to my playing until i replace it or can i just carry on for the short term as i'm planning on replacing the diff? I've not been off road for a couple of months with it like it but i presume they don't just go it must have been like it for some time.

if it has alot of play in the bearings it could go at any time while using 4wd & if it does go could cause more damage than just the diff

your better of getting it sorted asap in my opinion

I plan on doing it soon, just lack the funds for a few weeks having just forked out for a new exhaust, mot and tax. I was just sort of aiming at a "worst case".

I'll pm you re. your diff.
