Hi, my first post of many I hope, I just wondered if someone experienced could take a look at this advert and tell me if the fault re Smoke when starting from cold is a major issue to worry about as i'm looking at this Jimny tomorrow.

cant help on the smoke issue mate but its probably a cam belt engine in that O2 edition so would be due now, check for reciepts or knock money off..
if it is a chain (dohc engine) then forget it

Do you not reccomend the chain engined then?. I think ill leave this as dont want to risk buying one that may have a serious problem. Which models are chain driven?.

I meant if its chain driven you can forget the change because it doesnt need doing, which is better!
Just a heads up incase its belt driven and if it hasnt been done just knock some money off.

With it being a low mileage soft-top I would lift the carpet in the boot and look inside and around the tool-tray in the boot floor for rust. The rain can get in and run down into the well and rust it out.
Take it for a test drive and have a good play with accelerating from 40 to 50 mph and decelerating again. Doing this will find any steering issues.

And I thought that traditionally a puff of blue smoke on start up was worn valve stem oil seals which is not a big issue.
