Running problem was created by little monster
Hi Guys new on here, Great forum & hello to you all, Ok here`s my first post have just bought a 1999 very unloved jimny, have given it a engine service plugs, oil, filters, thermostat, cleaned lambda sensor, the problem i have is when driving the vehicle you can`t just put you foot down & go you have to push the throttle very gently to get it to pull also with the bonnet up & engine running if you open the throttle slightly and hold at constant revs the revs drop & rise like it is hunting, done the research thing on here but no success, have seen all the posts about crank sensors & cat being blocked, i have no rev counter issues just this constant jerking of the engine, i am waiting to spend lots of money on tyres & lift kit, but need to sort this first, the engine is the one with the black plastic shield at the front, please help asap drivable but very annoying, no engine management light comes on have a feeling it has been disconnected as i would have thought it would light up with ignition is first switched on,

the engine you have is the g13bb model which has a cambelt. there are two variations with and without crank sensors. yours does sound like a crank sensor problem....all the symptoms. unless it has a very poor earth but id say it was the crank sensor.

it is a cheap part im aware. and im sure its on the rear of the engine but dont hold me to that. not sure on testing as its only 35 quid and for the effort to get to it id just replace it. but make sure the new one lines up the same. there are giudes for this or step by steps somewhere
