No pre-tuned ariel will really be SWR tuned, get a meter and do it yourself - get a hacksaw first as it will need tuning!

I'm in North Wales so a bit far away!
To be honest a SWR will be pretty cheap, and you also need a short length of coax with the correct plugs on it..Sometimes they come with the meter, but if they don't, they are easy enough to knock up..
If you get yourself the bits, PM your mobile number and i will give you call and talk you through it..shouldn't take more than ten minutes or so..
I'm away tomorrow until Sunday but will be around after that..

thanks mate, cheers for the offer aswell!
Think it'll be worth buying a SWR? as itll only be used for offroad communication?
ive picked up a few people around 5-6 mile away, so not that bad i dont think or is that not really an indication of a tuned aerial?
Sorry for hi-jacking!

An SWR meter is so cheap you might aswell get one, the cheapest from Thunderpole is fine.
You'll receive from miles and miles away even if out of tune, it's how far you can transmit that will be limited, and if you're SWR is too far out, when you do transmit, you'll damage your set over time.
So buying an SWR meter and tuning the ariel, can be cheaper than ruining a good set and having to buy a new one.
