I haven't run lock nuts on anything I've owned since the early '80's, they've been more of a hindrance than a help, and I'm referring to the style that Suzuki used to supply for the spare wheels on the SUVs - a rotating sleeve that covers the actual lug nut, retained by a keyed insert.

I also haven't had any wheels stolen since the early '80's.

You have a responsibility to the members and casual readers on this forum not to give out spurious info. that may influence them against the benefits of locking wheel nuts. It takes me 5 seconds with the correct tool to remove a locking wheel nut. How long does it take you without the tool?

Roger

As i have said wheel locks are an appeasment to the insurance company, as are all keyed locks. That said yes they will deter the casual criminal opportunist but if someone wants anything you have in reality they can and will take it.
