I've had 235/75R15's on for around 100000Km now, and it's time to change tyres.
I'm considering 31" tyres.
I have reduction gears in the t-case, so gearing is not an issue.
I have a 50mm lift, front radial arms are 15mm longer and aftermarket bumpers that give plenty of clearance for bigger tyres.
Besides possibly extending bump stops, is there anything else I need to consider?
Has anyone experienced driveline breakages with 31" tyres?

235's.... 235/85R16? Or do you mean a 15" size?
JimnyBits have 31.10.50R15's on their website:
www.jimnybits.com/jimny-19-on/suspension...nsion-lift-kits.html
But that is on a 4" lift, so it runs extended bump stops to prevent the wheel moving up as far into the arch, along with longer shocks to give more total droop and travel.
I guess rim offset will also play a factor on how close or if they rub anything under steering or flex.
Interesting to see how you get on.

The current tyres are 235/75R15's. I intend running the new tyres on the stock rims.

Certainly not saying don't do it. But probably worth noting that the rim range for a 31.10.50R15 is 7-9". So the stock 5.5" rim is well under spec. The current tyres are 235/75R15's. I intend running the new tyres on the stock rims.

I'm not too fussed about the rim width. I have a friend who runs 31's on the stock rims, but on an SJ.

With running those sorts of tires you can expect more breakages from wheel bearings, CV joints and even diffs even more so if you are offroading the car. The stock axles on a Jimny aren't that strong so once you go over 30s you are starting to strain them especially if pushing hard offroad.
