An update on keys.
I enquired at Timpsons. Most branches can cut you a key and clone the immobiliser chip but you won't get a remote unit. If you want remote function (the remote on our gen3 is worn out) some, and only some branches can supply a fully functional key. The cost is £149 for a generic key and £260 for a genuine Suzuki one. The difference is the Suzuki logo
Update: just for a laugh (so I thought), I phoned the local Suzuki dealer. £179.78 for a genuine remote key, coded to the car and all working. They need to see the V5 and driving licence, and the car needs to be booked in. So that wins on value terms, I think.
This was for a 61-plate Jimny.

This is what I see when I turn on the ignition... Does it mean it's in 4wd?
I don't have a handbook so not sure.

Start the car, the 4wd lights should go off if not in 4wd.
Good news on the key!

Ah, yes the green 4wd light does go off once started. That's good to know. Thanks!
I thought maybe because I only got 215 miles out of a full tank it was stuck in 4wd from the previous owner.
Yeah, just have to go to the suzuki garage to get the fob re-chipped or something to get the central locking working.
Been driving about most days for 2 months now and I really do like this little jeep. Handles much better than I imagined it would. Apart from the almost unusable boot space and the fact you have to re-set your seat whenever someone gets in the back, the Jimny is a wonderful piece of kit.

It does drink a bit for a small engine - and the seat is a pain.
