No internal work done. I was actually dissuaded by a UK Suzuki company that sells forging parts. There is an issue with high boost pressure is that the cylinder liners rotate every so slightly and cause the head gasket to go. His personal car has had a brace put on by a specialist. So unless you get that done it’s not worth putting rods, pistons etc as that will be the limiting factor. Become a lot of money. If I had the funds I would put a Honda K series engine in and then it really will be a monster. A few people on this forum seem to think that a turbo equates uncontrollable power which is just naive. A fiat 500 abarth 595 is about 160-80BHP and you don’t see them in ditches. I will bring mine to a meet up.
The fact is hasn’t got a limited slip diff means one rear wheel just spins so it doesn’t kick you off the road. Just one wheel spins on the spot. Predictable and actually boring as you can’t get the power down.

The 595 Abarth is designed to handle the power, it's got a much lower C of G, also it's FWD and not a ladder frame chassis with RWD.
Of course you can improve the Jimny suspension by lowering etc but on a wet road our Gen 4 is marginal with the standard 100bhp hence my concerns about dumping 150bhp+ through the rear wheels.
There's also the issue of stopping the car . With my last Jimny I had improved the quality of the braking system as far as I could with the standard solid discs and with the improvements in handling I also had it was very marginal at best as I could induce fade within 3 or 4 laps of say teeside drift circuit. Obviously I was conscious of the shortcomings and was aware of the vented disc conversion but that was with only a mildly warmed 1.3, doubling the power is going to cause even upgraded brakes to have their limits found very easily.
Temeraire (2018 quasar grey automatic)
One of the last 200ish of the gen3s, probably.
ADOS Attention Deficit Ooooh Shiny!
I wouldn’t say the stock 101bhp is marginal in the Jimny. I’ve driven mine pretty hard and the only time it’ll try and spin the wheels on the road is pulling away on a slight incline with a tight turn and steering lock on. Or in the snow. But otherwise it is fine.
I’m sure more power would make them more feisty. But you are never going to have 300ft lb of torque at 1500rpm. It will always be a fairly revvy little engine.
Yes I saw that rzcrew sell a deck reinforcement piece, that's on the list, like I say I'm not after drag strip numbers just something peppy and fun, and at the end of the day reliability is a key point for me so I won't be running mad boost pressure anyway.
A quaife lsd is on the to do list at a later date, but it's just down to driver skill anyway, I bit more power doesn't mean the car just suddenly becomes uncontrollable, all just about when and how to put the power down.
You do make a valid point, I will eventually do the vented disk conversion as well as the rear disk conversion, but I'm not building a track car so most of my speedy stints only last 5 to 10 when I'm alone on the back roads near mine so I'm sure the standard system will suffice for a while.
I will have to check this out. My Jimny goes into dyno and will ask to raise the boost to 8psi/.55 bar tomorrow. That seems to be just under the highest boost level that is set in kit form.
