Your axle sounds far from needing replacement and more just in need of servicing.

Wheel bearings press out and new ones in and quality ones are available in the BigJimny shop. Easy for a garage.

Kingpin bearings are even easier and are cheaper and also available from the Bigjimny shop. The swivels just need rubbing down and if you fancy it, painting. The seals are available from the same place.

He might be a mate but it sounds like he's more knowledgeable about Land Rovers than Suzukis as their swivels must be shiny smooth, ours don't.

You don't need a new axle! I could have it fixed within a few hours with the above parts and the use of a press.
