you just knock out the top and bottom race with a1 inch socket on an extension bar
and tap the new one's in steady and straight

It is possible that if the bearings race cracks it can oval the axle seat. One of my kingpins did and I had to swap out the whole axle which is less of a pain than it sounds.

Yes this is what's happened, he said its gone kind of egg shaped. He said he could probably just try to fix it but it would just be a problem in a matter of no time so going to get a new axle asap. Thanks for all the advice guys much appreciated
