Don't forget that by lifting the position of the receiver to give clearance on the departure angle you are also lifting the position of the ball which is going to adjust the attitude the trailer rides at and also affects the space available for the coupling head relative to the spare on your back door. I'm constantly having problems opening my door with trailers on because I have had to set the ball as high as I can so that my twin axle trailer rides properly.

This is the one I installed and it is certified in the EU. The only disadvantage is that I have to unbolt the trailer hitch ball if I drive without trailer because it blocks the view to the license plate. This takes 2 minutes. And I can either use the to boltholes or the lower ones, depending hoe high I need it.

Because of the lift approved by the norwegian road dept. in the registration I have a note in the papers that the ball must not be higher than a max distance from the floor. And like RainerK I too have to remove the hitch for MOT at least and when driving without a trailer. Wich is why the hitch is detachable.
But there is many different lift and drop for the 2" recivers available so I'll find one that fits before welding.

Also I need one long enough to clear the spare wheel.

Also might need to move the plate or "adjust" the plastic bumper to make it fit.
