From another tow bar site
Additionally, US 2" and 2 5/16" towballs are not Type Approved and should not be used in conjunction with Type Approved vehicles. They can however be used with non Type Approved vehicles which include all special import vehicles from Japan and America and UK commercial vehicles including all vans and pick-ups.

The 2" and 2 5/16" is referring to the size of the ball. The hitch and any accessories must be type approved for the vehicle but there's nothing in UK law that restricts the use of a 2 inch receiver hitch if it is type approved.
Just had a look, it's a OEM Landrover multi height towbar (part no. VUB000720). Supplied and fitted by Landrover from new!

Thinking of either bying a new detachable mechanism or looking for a 2" reciever to make it more useful. There is a few 2" for the JB43 on ebay and other web based suppliers but they hang too far down for my liking. And none approved for Norway (EU?).
There are many and better looking for the JB74 with approval for Norway wich is funny as there are only 12 or so JB74 here in total.
Since this post, did anyone see one approved for the JB43?
Is the rear frame similar between the JB43 and 74 so I could kind of make it fit?
So instead of buying one maybe make one?
As that is kind of not approved i would have to oversize and reinforce to make sure it will not make problems for me. Would much rather buy an approved one.

The detachable part is so worn that I can swing the Hitch ball from side to side +/- 1-2cm.
I think I'll just grind off the bracket on it and weld on a new reciever but higher than the one pictured here.
The tow bar I have now is the one most tucked up there I have seen.
