Hi All, More fun and games,,, started the car about three times today with no issues at all. Started perfect. The last time while in a supermarket car park it's wouldn't start.
Turned the key and ignition lights were fine but the starter didn't seem to be getting energised. Took the battery off and had it tested, it was fine, put it back on and only a few clicks were heard on turning the key same as earlier, the car started perfect with a push and I drove it home.
I will get under it in the morning and check out the earth and starter connections. Does anyone have other thoughts on what I should check through.
Cheers
BGBrit.

If you off road then starter may have muck in it. If you can, get the battery tested for its loading capacity. If you get the car started put a voltmeter across the battery to check the charging voltage. This after checking all connections of starter and battery and earths.

Thanks Mickt,
I have a meter and will check that out too. No off roading for two months, I will check connections as you say and inspect the starter for mud water etc.
I suspect a new starter motor maybe needed. Will shall see tomorrow.
Cheers Mickt.

Give the starer solenoid a whack with a hitting stick and see if it helps.

Yes I forgot about that little trick. One of my mates in the early seventies got his mini going that way.
But I've never had to do it, first this has happened to a car of mine, First time for everything,.. yes... I'll give it a go.

Have you got your Jimny fixed? is there plenty fuel in it?
Mine did it last night, was very low on fuel. stopped, turned engine and lights off and took trailer off and parked it up. back into the Jim turned ignition but nothing, starter not turning. I bump started it and drove a mile back home, reversed into drive switched off and tried to re-start, but no go. fuel guage (mine works well and is generally accurate)was right at the bottom of the red. Came home tonight with a jerry can of fuel and tried to start it, still the same, not turning over, put the fuel in and tried again and it started second time! Tried it off and on a few times and it started perfectly every time, Has anyone else experienced this? I'm wondering if the engine management doesn't sense the fuel pressure it won't try to start?
Cheers,
John.
