Yip. It's the red wire. I tapped into the wire at the steering cowl so the joint was inside and dry. Oooft I like light bars.

Great thread, thanks guys. I also got a lightbar for Christmas and I've attached it physically but need to get my head around the wiring and this is really useful. I am planning on just wiring it up with the main beam, but I've never done anything like this before!

How common is it to simply wire up auxiliary lights to their own switch, separate to main beam? It seems that would be a lot more straightforward to set up, although not as convenient (although it could always be changed later). Is it worthwhile doing it that way, or is it much better to have it connected to main beam?

I suppose it depends what your requirements are. I wanted better light on road (more so when i'm on unlit back roads) so i have it triggered from the highbeam circuit, but i did include a switch so i have the option to not use the lightbar
having it on a separate switch would be fine if you are using it, for example, only off road. I wouldnt be able to drop out of highbeam and find the switch to avoid blinding any on coming drivers i meet.

PS Gus - ill get pics posted at some point soon of my completed install
