Rather than turbo the 1.3, fit a suzuki 1.6 or another bigger engine first (anything but a dirty diesel :P ) Then if you still want more power you've got a much better base to turbocharge from.

Dirty diesel

Exactly DTA or simaler going to be the thick end of £700 plus another £500 for mapping on the rollers wouldnt be a cheap deal to fit a turbo

petrol turbo engine in a jimny would be ussless for offroading imo to much revs up top which wouldn't be useable I could see a clutch going quick, down low power of a dirty diesel would be ideal. or the option of a big petrol like the v6 but who wants all tha weight in a lightweight jeep

It all depends what sort of driving you do. For crawling about in muddy pay and play sites with short climbs and small bogs a diesel might be easier to drive but not all offroading is done at 5mph! Ever tried to drive up a big sand dune in a diesel? Or along a soft beach? Low-down torque isn't always the answer.
