so to fit an electrical t/c on my manual jimny 1998 would it be a streight swap no need to modify shafts etc ?

Possibly. Is it as simple as plugging in the switch though? I imagined there's some sort of ECU wizzardry involved.
No idea, that's what I'm trying to work out!

Ive got a switch thats between my manual t box and hubs so I can have 2 low, just a basic switch.its more a question of how the electric t box changes gear?
Is it only electric t box's from an auto jimny that have the lower ratio low box?

I have a 2LO switch too 
Check out the link I posted earlier for the ratios. Yes, only electric autos.
Yes how they change gear, and how the shafts mate together.
Ideally I'd want a gear stick though as every vehicle I've driven with electric range shift has driven me mad! I can't imagine the Suzuki system is any better.

Electric tboxes are different and cannot be converted. Manual ones can be fitted to cars made with electric ones with a bit of wiring trickery to fool the electrics
