but the inlet pipe to the cat also needed welding up as a temp fix ..... will need a cat at some future date, any recommendations, believe the O2 sensor usualyy dies on removal too ?

Guess you were in the garage today hal ? Have a scout on ebay for a cat seen some on there at a decent price before.

Why not go stainless - suppose it is too late now.

S/S too expensive ....
but did have problem fitting the new pipe to my S/S rear box as the new replacement pipes have a slightly larger dia than the OEM pipes, hence it wouldn't "slide-into" the rear box pipe for clamping. The solution was to weld a section of "good" old pipe to the new pipe for the "good" old pipe to slide into the rear-box pipe ..... hope that makes sense, I know what I mean anyway :lol:

Was the old pipe SS?
