Changed the rear diff filler plug to one with a nut welded to it to make undoing it easier and to get a better seal on the copper washers I use, as I'll be able to do it up tight enough.
Checked the rubber boots on the sliders on my front o/s brake calliper as I had it in my head one of them was not staying put on the slider but it seems ok at the minute - might need a new boot when the pads wear down a bit. This seems to be a bit of a service job that needs an eye keeping on if you go through water and we are Laning this week, so a Ford will be included! I know this as I'm doing the route planning!
Fitted some Pioneer 13cm speakers to the front and learnt I have one rear speaker fitted on the nearside but not the off side! How weird - probably another previous owner bodge to sort out. I couldn't be bothered to remove the rear seats today to fir new rear ones. I will fit the EDGE ones in standard side I previously bought from Halfords is I don't fit bigger ones in the trays on the sides in the rear.
Gave it a wash.
I hope to get some piccies tomorrow and then when we go Laning later in the week.

No, I used the surrounds that come with them though, which effectively space them out a bit, but only by a few millimetres. They are needed for the grills to cover them.
The sound is better but still not that good. They are fine with the higher notes but any bass at all is rubbish. The car seems to vibrate a lot too. Not surprising I suppose seeing's as it has been jiggled around off-road a lot and the build quality of the interior was never the best in the first place. All that plastic is never going to be conducive to good sounds I don't think.
I wonder if fitting good speakers in the rear and setting the fader back a bit to take the pressure off the front will help, however, you ought to have the main sound coming from the front really. It doesn't help that the bits of plastic the front speakers are mounted in are slotted in place and have one plastic expanding rivet really holding it in place. That plastic moulding was never meant to hold a speaker.
I think my expectations maybe a little high but I like my tunes and have always sought a top quality sound in my cars. This is an off roader though.

Daniel30 wrote: I have a sub which handles the bass and some after market speakers in the front and back which I have turned the bass right down sounds ok, have got a set of 13cm component speakers lying about so was wondering if they would fit and mount the tweeters on the dash, someone on here made a rear panel for the back door and mounted some 6x9's on it which would probably sound good
Cheers
Yes a sub would be ideal with the bass taken right out of the 13cm speakers, which my head unit has the ability to do - however where on earth would I put a sub?
My boot looks like this:
