Yes I have gone all soft!
It is what the Jimny is for being good on tax (pre 2001) and so on. Sometimes you can lay up the insurance too.

OMG, must have been bad!!
Well the long shaft killed its cv joint the hub was full of mud water some grease and lots of metal
The short shaft had a seized cv joint and where the shaft seal sits wrecked the shaft and the metal ring on the rear of the hub was in 3 bits and the lower pin was seized solid took me half an hour to get the pin out

TBH I wish my jimny was a 2001 model not a 52 plate 2003 model  The insurance is so cheap on my jimny that I just always just let it re-new itself Also it allows me to drive any other car 3rd party if need be.
Handy as the Jimny is only a weekend toy and not my daily driver.
It will more likely just sit on my drive unused this month but as soon as I want to use it I will just tax it

Did you do a write up on it that I can read please?srcars wrote:
Yes changed the dash ages ago so I could see the clock.
Sorry no write up and it was ages ago so the old memory cant quite recall what was involved
I seem to remember stripping back the facia and something that resembles a double din cage hold the radio and clock/cubby. This was flipped or swapped and the clock rotated, there was some fettling needed but nothing major. I am sure it was all fairly obvious what needed doing as you got to it, but it was worth doing.

Here's a short clip from one of the stages. This one Thomas drove, and set fastest time, 2:13
As you can hear, the suspension took a good beating. Will have to put on some bumpstops soon
There were in total 12 stages with a great variety of tasks. Speed, trails, hill-climb, wheel-barrow race, bicycle-race on a kids-bike. A great day.
We finished 2nd overall
