Proactive today not only put a tenner in as mentioned earlier.....

But also fitted the spot lights to the roof bar, cocked it up (lucky you can't see the holes lmao) and also put the front plate on the roof bar..... As i have a sticky one on the bonnet....

I agree - everything about this Jimjam looks good!

Today I gave my Jimjam an oil change and put my Numax battery under the bonnet using a JimnyBits battery tray.

Now I've been wanting the battery out of the boot for a while and bought this tray to move it a few months ago. Unfortunately the battery is too tall though so the bonnet wouldn't shut, so on that day I just gave up and put it back where it was.

Well today, with the prospect of spending a couple of hundred pounds on this to have an equal battery that fitted the tray: www.devon4x4.com/index.php?page=shop.pro...virtuemart&Itemid=14

I set to it and thought about what I could do to get the Numax under there.

With a bit of Jiggery Pokery I have done it!

I cut a bit of the bonnet's strengthening frame from where the battery terminal was hitting and it possibly left me clear - but it is the positive terminal that will hit, so to be sure to be sure that it clears I have gone all boy racerish and added a couple of thick washers between the bonnet and the hinge, giving it a bit of a bonnet lift at the back!

I have placed a thick bit of rubber on top of the positive terminal and it appears that the rubber isn't touching the underneath of the bonnet, so there must be plenty of clearance now. You can't chance it with the live earthing on the bonnet though!

I've pulled all the 50mm sq wiring from the back through from on top of the chassis to the front again and now just have to take it off the car, cut it down, crimp new terminals on the end I cut and connect it and tidy up the wiring.

I've mounted my winch solenoid to it also.

I'll post some piccies tomorrow when I've finished it!

It took a bit of thinking but where there's a will there's a way - especially when there's money to be saved and I like my Numax - Just not in the cabin area, being a lead acid battery still!

I had to 'relocate' mine with cable ties, I found it resting on the hot exhaust :pinch:

It will cool down a lot more with the extra water it will likely let in too! I might take one of the washers out and see if it's still clearing OK as it's not really my style to be honest but if it get's the battery where I want it, so be it!

Sounds good, love to see the pics cos I have not yet seen one of the JB trays. It's a pity the tray couldn't be lowered; I assume there was no chance.
