What did you do to your jimny today?

Yep don't think you would be able to use the brakes with two broken legs :laugh:

Went to get it out of the garage, And had a flat battery. Only 5 volts, So chooched.Only other battery i had was a little larger.

So off with the battery box for a trim.

And sorted.

A few more CCA and amp hours. I left a meter connected for an hour to see if there was a voltage drop, But seemed fine, so i think the dud battery had just had it's life.

Not today but recently.

How did that go then?...

Track evening, utterly chaotic no batches for novice intermediate or lunatic, 400bhp on track at same time as 100bhp, very sketchy. Managed 3 hot laps but then when I came in to cool off I was told by the organisers that Ermintrude was not appropriate and not to go back out which got inside my head and really annoyed me. Yes a 1.3 with a novice behind the wheel isn't going to be fast but with a bit more organization it could have been safer.

Dynamically Ermintrude did better than I expected but it highlighted the need for the quaife diff and some more manly springs. These will happen in due course subject to funding and management approval.

I changed the wiper blades on mine today, but not without some hassle....

I'm a huge advocate of flat blades - they don't judder or squeal and just seem more stable and effective when in use - I've fitted them to my previous car (SAAB 93) and my wifes Vauxhall Meriva and the improvements have been tenfold,

My wiper blades on the Jimny were completely shot so off I trotted to Halfrauds.
Now I admit that this was partly my mistake as I perhaps should have checked more closely, but Halfrauds little book on the wiper-blade stand said that I needed Bosch AR 16U wipers. I had also checked online and it said the same; AR 16U both on passenger and driver's side, so thats what I got.

Still being a bit of a noob with the Jimny I didn't realise that the drivers and passenger blades are different lengths.

So off I trot back to Halfrauds once again to get the correct pair - a Bosch AR 16U and an AR 18U.

Curious that when I checked the little book on the wiper-blade stand again, it is only the Bosch flat wipers that Halfords have made the mistake with - the other wiper brand alternatives for the Jimny state the two different sizes. Had I noticed that, I may have questioned it saying to use two AR 16 U blades.

Anyway, prior to fitting, I gave the windscreen a good polishing using "Bar Keepers Friend" (I'm still in the process of cleaning off the previous owner's application of Rain-X, and this stuff brings glass up a treat!) and wipers were duly fitted

Similar experience today... I too went to Halfwits to get an oil filter for my Jimny... the only Jimny they list in their flip book of oil filters is a 1.9 DDiS model... which has never been available in the UK, only on continental Europe! :evil:

Did they give you a refund if they cut your time short then?

Yesterday i removed the exhaust backbox, i then painted the underside of the chassis and painted the backbox.
I then cut 2" off the tail pipe and fitted a chrome extension piece.

Today I made a simple 'stowage' for the straps on the roof of my Jimny.

I dont feel the straps are very neccessary so tend not to use them, but the other week I was making good haste towards work with the roof open and all of a sudden there was a horrendous and alarming vibration noise coming from the open roof.

All that happened was one of the straps had found its way outside the car and was flailing around in the wind, beating itself against the outside of the bodywork. It's happened several times now, so I decided to do something to stop it happening...

I'd be surprised if anyone else with an open topped Jimny is really bothered, but I have made a simple stowage by gluing some velcro on the inside of the cockpit to stop the straps going outside the car.
I just marked the place the velcro needed to go - applied some awesome upholstery glue, and the job was done

Not today but yesterday I changed the rear offside wheel bearing but also buggered my brake pipe so started to make a new one and just can’t screw the new unions in! Also removed the old handbrake-should be cables but the actual wire part pulled straight through the outer sheath...seems the handbrake didn’t just need connecting up! Have new cables ready to go on off James! Also noticed that having the rear brakes clamped off to get me home that the rear brakes had a problem anyway as it now stops on a dime! Cable fitting and pipe fitting today!
