Sounds like what mine was doing. The father in law rebuilds starters & alternators for a living so I gave it to him. He found the one way clutch on the drive was knackered so he worked out what drive it is and ordered one from his supplier & fitted it, now it's like new!
I can't get you a clutch as if everyone did that he'd not have a job but if you wanted I could ask him for a price on a rebuild with a new clutch like he did with mine and could receive it and post it back when done. I warn you he's not necessarily quick though, so it could be a week and a half you'd be without it!
Or you could just get a good second hand one and not be without one.

I definately couldnt be without my car that long as it doubles as my work van being self employed, I will get a second hand starter at some point but could still be interested in getting mine fixed so ive got a spare. Let me know a price buddy, no rush
I seem to remember hearing that the soft to spanish starters are different (shorter in length), is this the only difference? A shorter one would be easier to fit  is there any difference in quality tho?
How much is a second hand one likely to set me back?

kirkynut wrote: The soft tops have a different engine so they're a different starter. Have a look on eBay for starters from Camsuzuki for prices. They must have one. Just make sure it's for the same engine. They are a git to get out without a ramp as the bolts aren't visible and as you lay under it your arms aren't long enough. I just let him do it for easiness sake.

Yea not the easiest of things to get to,I dis connect the prop from front diff to give more room.still. takes alot of effort to get out specially laying on the drive.
