Haven't measured anything, but the track width found in these trucks technical data should be the same as the axle width, measured with 0 offset wheels.

So, on SJ413 it's around ~1210mm, Samurai ~1310mm and Jimny ~1355.

And keep in mind that only the very last Samurai models(coil sprung models) had a high pinion front axle like Jimny's, if that has any significance to you.

it is when a wheel lifts but without the heavy foot as i prefer to be carefull if i can its due to running 32.5" special tracks that realistically measure at 33.5" so has a lot of grip/rotational force.

im considering getting some samurai axles (both) and putting hd shafts and lockers in for strength i was looking to see if i could have a 'quick fix' for the time being.

The swaping is not easy. The front axle of the samurai is stronger than the jimny one. The rear are the same.

Also samurai axles are norower than jimny ones. You are going to need 2 pairs of wheel spacers at each side

to get them sorted with the rears.

Also you will have to make new coil and radious arms brackets on the sami axle, measure and adjust caster,

fix steering bars, front and rear of axle.

90% you wont be happy with the result, if jimny is your daily car.

If you have it only for off-road its ok.

I suggest you get a set of HD front axle shafts and cv's , and make some axle strength parts like ora's.

I have on my own a set of insa turbo special tracks 235/85/16 with front hd axleshafts and cv joints and its ok.

I run a 4.9 t-case and arb's on both axles.

Yup.. I very much understand why you want Samurai axles fitted. I know a user here on Bigjimny forum, Frede.gv1, Is fitting Samurai axles to his Jimny sometime next year.

And it's not all about driving style.
I know you can compete on local club level in beginner classes. But try find a truck with standard axles in Croatia Trophy top 10 .. Or any similar 4x4 Trophy/Challenge B)

It's not all about driving style, I do appreciate that and with 33" extreme tyres it is perhaps understable really. I think that combination is weaker than my mate's standard Landrover shafts and Cvs which at that time probably also ran 33" tyres.

Tomdk - The Scorpion Challenge was the most extreme Winch Challenge event in the UK with only the top teams daring to compete and it was the likes of them who competed in the Croatia Trophy back then. He and his co-driver are very clever people and know when to drive and when to winch and think outside the box, avoiding damage to the truck and it's drive train.

It changed It's name to the Howling Wolf, which you may have heard of but was the same event.

I think I agree with Maverick in this instance in that Yota axles might be the best way forward. Especially if you can get a rear one with It's standard electric rear locker!

Speak to Rob Butler or Rhino Ray as they are masters of fitting them go Zukes.

Edit: scrub the bit about getting a rear standard locker as I remember from the start you like the challenge of open diffs. I agree, they are more fun in the long run and stop you creating a truck that is so capable It's boring!
