My J is currently on the ramp being pressure washed ready for its Waxoyl coating.

Now just finished and is being dried out by a industrial fan heater as we speak :)

OK, so a full report on the day...

Turned up at 8:50 to be greeted by the owner and co-worker who seemed friendly and got started right away. The whole process took about 4.5 hours which included:
  • Pressure steam clean
  • Full dry out with the fan heater and air hose
  • All the doors, seals, chassis and bonnet were injected with Waxoyl
  • The full under seal
  • Cleaning of any over spray

I was impressed with the thoroughness of the process. The cleaning of all the crap (a lot fell out of the bottom of the J!), and most critically, the drying process, which did dry it work completely. I was invited to look under the car once dried to have a look.

The actual application of the Waxoyl took a long time, and he kept going around the car applying, checking and re-applying to make sure a good coating was applied to all surfaces. Again, I was invited to have a look and I took some photos (see below). They even masked up my shiny white rear shocks (pictures showing underside before masking was removed).

I stayed the whole time and watched, and they are more then happy for you to do so.

It comes with a 5 year guarantee that the rust will not get any worse than it is now. I asked him how bad he thought the J was, and he said it was not too bad, just cosmetic and had seen worse. I guess they would not have a guarantee if it was that bad. And the guarantee is transferable if I sell the J.

I also get a free top up as part of the deal. It needs a little bit of welding in the rear floor pan, so I will get that done and take it back to re-apply to the patched areas, but I did buy a can of Waxoyl (£15) so I can top up any areas if needed.

The Waxoyl is not the stuff you buy in the shops, they are the only place in the UK that is licensed to use this version which is called Waxoyl Professional, and is industrial strength stuff. Smells like dog 5hit when driving along and the over spray is burning off the exhaust :S

It takes about a week to fully cure, so I just need to avoid jet washing it, but it can be driven around no problem.

They are based up north and Hatfield in the south which is where I went.

The cost was £468 inc VAT.
