JImny Transfer box! was created by anthony clavin
Hey guys.My names Anthony.Im from Ireland and ive had the worst luck with my transfer box in my 2001 jimny.

It started shaking like a leaf when put in 4x4 and sudenly would keep jumping out of 2wheel drive and id have to turn off the engine and let it cool down in 2wheel drive and it would drive normally again.
I tried haveing a look at the transfer box and it turns out one of the bussells had been twisted to bits and had snapped.but after i replaced it it seems to have the same problem.i tried the transfer box on tight or semi loose but straight looking.but to no avail.

i have a feeling im gona need to switch over to samurai manual hub.i was wondering if this is a normal problem for jimnys and if anyone else has had this problem.

its also a problem that i can only find one jimny in scrap in the whole of ireland.haha.might be a good jimny sign though.:)

Changing to manual hubs won't fix a broken transfer box, or am I misunderstanding what you mean?

A new transfer box is the way forwards.

So does your car look like a hot rod?

I cant see that being good for it, especially in 4x4...

We need pictures!

The jimny doesn't have a centre diff so different size tyres front to back may wind up your transmission and potentially cause problems.

shouldn't make a difference having different sizes back to front as long as you're in 2wd but if you have been using it in 4wd on hard ground i'm sure it won't have done it any good! i've got a transfer box if its the older manual shift.
