Just had my insurance renewal from Sureterm, gone up from £153 to £189. Frank Pickles have just quoted me £168 fully comp. No prizes for guessing who I am going with

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

When you have a lower quote from a competitor, ring your own insurer, and tell them to match it to keep your business and they likely will.
Result: cheaper insurance and no tedious form filling in.
Funny how they can always shave the increase back off, but they claim to "work hard to bring you the best possible deal" before offering you an inflated price.
