Just had my insurance renewal from Sureterm, gone up from £153 to £189. Frank Pickles have just quoted me £168 fully comp. No prizes for guessing who I am going with :-)

When you have a lower quote from a competitor, ring your own insurer, and tell them to match it to keep your business and they likely will.

Result: cheaper insurance and no tedious form filling in.

Funny how they can always shave the increase back off, but they claim to "work hard to bring you the best possible deal" before offering you an inflated price.

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)

Yeah - that works for me. Insurers will always give the best rates to attract new business and then rely on apathy or misplaced loyalty to get a bigger premium at renewal.

I pay nearly 500 notes for mine fully comp, age 27 daily driver etc, but i am insured with a student insurance company and have been since i bought my first car. Now im teaching, they still look after me, but i do have to ring them every year and barter them down to get the best price. When my renewal came in feb, they wanted 700 notes for 3party F+T but a bit of ringing round and quoting others saw them offer me fully comp at the same price as last year - it does pay to shop around, but it also depends on personal circumstances. I did mention to adrian flux that i was on the BigJimny fourm and they say that as belonging to an offical club and were prepaed to knock 15% (if i remember correctly) of the premium - always worth mentioning!!!

Try Frank Pickles, they insure second cars with out no claims - go for a restricted mileage as your RS is your main car you could go for 2-3000 pa and get a good reduction - also tell them you belong to a club/forum (big jimny) and that will get you a further discount - the only requirement is it must be modified in some way :P
