Good  evening  guys                         ive always had an interest in all things buggy  and have a hankering to biuld me a little buggy based on a jimny,  lose the body shell and just have a tube frame onto the standard chassis,  the body shell on a jimny is far from light in my view,  i have this jimny that was parked up last year after spending several years dragging a mower and roller around a grass track,  but seems to have to decided it wants to retire prematurely  as it wont start up  at the moment    but will investigate it over the next week or so cheers Andy

Welcome to the forum. This looks like it should be a good project to follow.

Andy? Baloo is a username I remember from the past?

I used to post on Difflock too back in the day... (Dave -White Vitara "Superzuki" / K9RDJ)

You've been tinkering with the idea of buggies as long as I have!

I've finally finished one -

Nice to have another buggy enthusiast on the board...

I'm just planning the next one! - Lil'Bugga

hello guys
yes Dave its Andy here, difflock seems a long time ago now
your buggy looks good l have dropped in from time to time to see how your getting on, i can remember dropping in at yours and buying some seamless tube off you when i was working up in Llandudno , that seems a lifetime ago lol, l know what you mean about finishing one its a struggle to see one through to the end before a new idea takes root in my head but the biuld is as much fun as driving it for me, there's something nice about taking a rusty crudy old chassis and having it shotblasted along with all the suspension and then painting it all up better than new, i find that satisfying,
anyway i intend to strip this one down and biuld something out of it, engine type and position is still undecided, i want a tube buggy a bit like an oversized honda pilot however the jimny like all 4 wheel drives has the engine mounted above the axle with plenty of clearance making for a very tall bonnet line this i dont like or want so its either a different engine thats much lower like a subaru flat 4 or maybe use the standard jimny engine behind the seats so its rear engined, dunno yet still pondering that lol

I thought it must be you ;)

Yes, I’ve failed 5 buggy projects, and after nearly dropping off this mortal coil 2.5 years ago I vowed to finish this one! :woohoo:

Looks like we’re thinking similar on the next builds then? I too want something smaller, roll age with one seat, bike engine under a cut down Jimny bonnet, two front axles so that...

I can cut 12” out of the axle tube and run two shorter shafts on both sides of the diff... that will reduce the track width, and using two front axles with the shorter front radius arms will also reduce the overall length... and as a benefit I can attempt four wheel steering?!

Long term project though, spend the summer months greenlaning The Boogie as it’s become known (we’re out Sunday for its maiden voyage back with the group), and then spend the winters in the garage building “Lil’Bugga”... unless the sun shines, then the Boogie will come out for a wander...

Nice to re-meet you, we{‘ll watch each other’s progress then? ;)
