I remember when I first got my Jimny. First things. I bought were replacement bolts for all the underside as well as a blowtorch, WD40, long spanners, extension bars for socket sets and a bolt extraction kit (cost about £8 off ebay). The bolt extraction kit got a hammering - I don't think the underside of my 1999 Jim had ever seen any maintenance until I bought it early last year.
Keep us up to date with the progress!

Waiting for the garage to get in touch so they can approve the rebuild of the lower tailgate.

Been a few days but taking pics with oily gloves isn't easy. :
didn't hear from the garage welded the floor in myself.
its not pretty, close up but the welds are good.
there is a 75mm x 120mm 4mm angled steel over both rear mounts and welded the mounting brackets to the angle
slotted the angle where the mounting bolts are and welded a filler piece in to the slot

a 50mm x 50mm angle was used as an upstand to make up the difference of the tailgate to the 120x75
and a 3mm sheet was used to make the floor.
the sheet was welded in to the upstand weld which meets the 120x75
it has a slight run to the rear, I dont know where I will put the drain holes yet
suppose I will pour some water and see where it goes lol

the tank got fitted once I had derusted and painted the chassis
beginning to look like a decent Jimny now.
many thanks to a friend for help, it is so much easier a 2 man job, you dont get much room with the bolt holes and it weighs a lot even empty, when your upside down under the car,
and just to remind everyone this is a restoration on a student budget.
everything will be standard as in no high lift kits alloy wheels or different gearing etc.
the plan is to have a clean looking dependable everyday drive which can get me out and about in the countryside if needed.
