Up to this moment I found two issues whilst installing my conversion kit. First issue was the custom made bracket had slightly incorrect distance between the holes for the bolts of the Renault calipers. Not too far off, maybe 0.5-1.0mm but it was enough to ruin the threads of one bolt. Enlargened one of the holes from 12mm to 13mm did the trick! Sorted.
But with this 2nd issue I feel I hit a road block. Standard alloy wheels and no clearance around the caliper. It's now locked on balancing weights on both wheels...from the other (visible) side it might have 0.5mm clearance....

I guess it's not just my bad luck so may I ask those more experienced members, who has the very same kit to advice on what should I do next? Crying and giving it up not an option!

Firstly consider fitting balance beads
Second some people had same issues with 15" alloys
They shaved a couple of mm of top of caliper ;)

Thanks for the advice.

Ha-ha. I must say it's my bad luck again...

This is what I seen and bought:
www.jimnybits.com/jimny-rear-disc-conver...full-bundle-kit.html

'Note Will not fit certain wheels without wheel spacers or calliper modification

So far we have found out vitara alloy wheels won't fit without some small calliper grinding

Will not fit 2014 models on with the 4 line brake hose setup (we are working on this model)'

And this is what I've just discovered:

www.jimnybits.com/jimny-rear-brake-disc-conversion-kit.html

'So far we have found out vitara alloy wheels and VVT Jimny won't fit without some small caliper grinding'

I have VVT Jimny so no wonder why it does not fit. I will remove the weights and carefully grind a bit tomorrow.

I enlarged the holes on my brackets & shaved the top of the calliper - I called Jimnybits and that seemed to be the way for most people.

Be careful with the grinder, the metal is very soft - shouldn't take too long.

I'm running wider steel wheels and also had to take a grinder to my calipers to provide some clearance. Only took a couple of passes with a grinding disc.

I noticed some really nice transformation in your green laner build! Including how to shave the calipers ;)

Hi everyone. I hope you're all well.

I'd like to think this is my last issue regarding disk brake conversion. Seemingly I have short handbrake cables for this setup!?!

I would need an extra 2-3cm/1 inch more lenght in order to be able to hook up the end of the cables or to put back the adjusting nut.

Perhaps I've missed something obvious again  but as far as I'm aware there isn't too much option to adjust the lenght of the cable, is it?

Any constructive advice is greatly appreciated. ;)

I've got no clue what permission I would need to access the page but here are the photos again. This time maybe works...

I'm sure I did! I have to fish out the bits (user guide, actuators) from the bin to check...

Got them out! I can confirm that I followed the instruction as per my best understanding (which is hopefully up to this task! :) ) Perhaps I need to fit the actuators in a different position to allow cable ends being closer to lever? Just an idea, I'm not sure.

The handbrake cables should be further into the new metal tubes. In the pics theres 1-2cm further to go in there (the rubber butts up to the metal tube). They will be tight and its worth putting some grease in the tube as you assemble it (to make it possible to get off in the future).
