This build thread is awesome - thanks so much for sharing, can't wait to see the end result. I'm a tad OCD with the engineer within me, they look like they're doing a Rolls Royce job! If only there was a Southwest Bristol crew to go out laning with haha

Fantastic value for money you are getting there mate
I wish I had done that with ulysses. Mind it would have fallen apart if I had tried to turn it up like that  The rust I had was far worse than that. Half the floor pan and footwells was goosed. Yours will end up everlasting after all this work.
Re the tray or pickup ~ I like Jack's dual layer idea, but i do find its remarkably handy having the space of the pickup, even if its only 1m square, You will have to live with this vehicle for a long time so it wants to be at least a little practical (sorry if thats boring!)

Thanks Riccy, I'm chuffed to bits with the workshop....
WKD do the tray back kit, I understand what Jack is saying, sitting the spare directly on the chassis with just a thin muck guard underneath. Then the "tray" above that.
I also liked the way that Dave has got the rear braces on the outside of the roll hoop, then triangulated underneath to the chassis.
Lots to think about.....

Weight is a big consideration......
The car would be worth more with a pick up back, without question. A pick up bed is heavy....
A full tray back and roll cage would let me trial safely as well as lane with confidence. Cages are heavy....
Simple bed to carry the spare wheel and a 25ltr tub with recovery gear in it. As light as it can be.....

I have been across to Shire Fabs and they were not interested in doing a bespoke hoop for the Jimny. The landrover hoop can't be cut down to suit, the angles go all pear shaped between the bottom two bends,
The WKD set up looks favourite....

Is the body shop taking the pictures as they go along or are you popping to take them each day? It is nice to a shop taking this much care and attention. I have already book marked this thread for future (Very long term hopefully) reference.

Yes Soeley, the shop are taking the pictures and sending them to my bunker... To be honest, it's the only thing that has my interest while this virus thing is going off. I'm high risk and have been locked down for two weeks already..
