Like you say, best to find these things on a local shakedown.

This is the end of the metal pipe off the engine that goes into the bottom hose of the radiator -

 

We had to pull it out of the hose and relocate the hose so it stayed on the end as a get-me-home fix... So I need to see the condition of the rest of the metal pipe... if it's sound* I can use a slightly longer rubber hose, if not I'll have to see if I can get a replacement metal pipe off the engine?

*I presume condensation/ road spray has run down the metal pipe to where it meets the rubber hose and settled  there and in the twenty years of the Jimnys  life it's slowly rusted through, and the off-road wobbling of the engine has caused it to shear off...?  

 

A couple of hours off this afternoon... So...

 

Pulled the buggy out of the garage and popped the radiator hoses off...

 

Pushed it back into the garage and whipped the radiator out...

Little rusty bit of pipe identified...

 

Number 22 ringed here is Suzuki part number 17860-80A00

Found on eBay -

 

And is on it's way Well... after the bank holiday... delivery before next Saturday it said... which is ok as I've lost my Wednesday off as one of the girls has booked next week off...

... an hour and a half to get this small piece of steel pipe out this morning?!

Who in their right mind at Suzuki HQ thought "hmmm, yes, let's put the radiaror pipe through the engine mount..." WTF?! :evil:

It wouldn't have been so bad if it was a rubber hose? But no, rubber hose off the engine, steel pipe through the body mount, and then rubber pipe to the bottom radiator connector?!

 

I had to take the repositioned airbox out in the end to get to the hose clip...

Anyway, it's out and I'm waiting for the new shiny one to arrive to replace it... I imagine that will be fun to get on as well! :lol:

Ah well...

So, then, in my wisdom, I decided to push the buggy out of the garage and give it a damn good "end of the project" (well almost!) tidy up...

 

I found the stump / rock hook that Alan had given me for Christmas, and stared long and hard figuring out where to mount it... not being able to weld to my new creation I decided to neatly bolt it through the two waffle boards...

 

Ummm, yes, I have got a bit of a spanner-fetish... "Hello, is that Halfords?, ah good, yes please, please send me one of every spanner kit you sell"... ummm, in fact there's 2 or 3 of some sizes stacked together there :woohoo: , but I did sort them all out and made up a set of tools to go in the Boogie... the ones in the square are old imperial ones, so they were ty-wrapped together and hidden at the back of one of the tools chest's drawers...

No work this Wednesday coming, as one of the girls in the shop has booked the week off, so back to that fiddly radiator pipe next Sunday...

Just the cooling system to fix, a new clutch at some point, load the tools and spares... and we're ready to go 'laning in the summer

I cold really recommend a Proxxon Industrial 23650 as on board toolkit. Except for some special tools there is almost everything you need and they do not rattle.

I've ordered a few tool bags so they can be stored under the seats, space is short, and that keeps the weight low down too...

similar shape but the mounting tab is in the wrong place? It does match the schematic and is a genuine Suzuki part with the same par number too... hoping it will fit...?

I'm presuming I found a schematic for a G13B engine fitted in a different Suzuki vehicle???

A thermostat has also arrived today from Martin's BigJimny store

And some gearbox oil...

Just waiting for power steering fluid now then...
