This popped up on my youtube feed.
Quite funny when he drives into a puddle and hydraulics the engine- I'm sure that didn't hurt it Supposedly it got a unimog stuck, which I doubt somehow....
£16,995 OTR, seems a lot though for a car with the steering wheel on the wrong side.
I want a poverty spec. one in cammo
The headline price is £11,995, if you can avoid the VAT, and only use it off road on private property so it never gets registered
Otherwise it is £11,995 + VAT = £14394, plus £55 to register it, plus £2245 for the first tax payment (it only does 12.1 litres/100km, which is about 280g/km) plus £504 for the warranty, which totals £17,198 if you want to drive it on a road.
Back in 1993 I tried to buy a new one, but it was like Dacia, they only sell what they can get, which wasn't the red poverty spec I wanted, but was the tarted up white one with alloys, Halfords driving lamps and some stickers on the sides, (rather like a pig with lipstick) for about 25% more, so I went to buy a Vitara, and ended up with a diesel terrano. (Wish I still had it mind...)

I saw this too. I quite like them and agree with needing the poverty one. My only concern would be repair parts availability, it's OK getting service parts over the Internet in a couple of days as you can plan it but it being off the road if something broken needs replacing, not so much.

        Noooooooo!! Don't do that!
I hope you're just kidding. Unfortunately I used to drive those things for months. Avoid them!
Pros:
Very good off-road, especially in mud
Low range transfer box with central locking
Very cheap parts
You can fix it with a duct tape and WD40
Cons:
Poor driving experience on road
Unreliable
Poor quality materials used everywhere
Assebled with no quality control in mind
Think twice before you waste your money!

        I wouldn't buy one @ £17k. Maybe if I win the quadruple roll-over tonight
Certainly I wouldn't swap the Jimny for one.
If I was buying Russian, I'd really go for a UAZ.

Back in the 1980s I saw a Lada 4x4 come up a steep road in Dolby forest, North Yorkshire in heavy snow, there weren’t any other car tracks, just ski and sledge tracks, it had four people crammed in it and never slipped the whole way up, just drove up like it was any normal Sunday drive.
I was very impressed, more so as we never saw any other vehicle either up or down. We didn’t even chance it on trail bikes.
There aren’t many left now, a lot went back abroad when Lada pulled out of the UK.

No worse than buying an old Defender, surely.
Probably cheaper as well, Defender prices are on a roll at the moment, like the Gen 4 Jimny.
Residuals won't match the Defender in the long run though.
Or will they?
