I am carrying out a number of upgrades and corrections to try and combat the issues so the website may behave strangely.

I couldn't access site for 4 days, was being re-directed to an .ru site instead. I found that the saved addy was being hijacked but could get through by typing it in manually, very wierd. My own service provider had a message appear telling us that site was hijacked by malware and advising us not to attempt to enter your site... big red screen with lots of info and a message that site owner would be advised of hijacking.

The hack was a simple .htaccess hack. This means if you access the site via a directly typed in URL then you were fine. If you access the site via one of the popular search engines (Google etc.) or a saved Google URL, then you got sent to Russia.
This achieved two things,
1. They ride on the back of popular Google searches, improving their hit rate
2. The hack is not visible to normal users of the site, so it can stay in place a long time.
No actual malware etc. was placed on the website.
They got in through an old program module loaded on one of my other websites that I had failed to update. However, BigJimny itself is getting old in terms of software release updates so I am going to have to bite the bullet on that one soon. The issue with the next upgrade level is that the User Accounts need to be modified which means I will have to lock them down (ie. no changes/no new users) for an hour or two. Also the templates will not work so the site will loose its colour and format for a while whilst they are updated.
