The only real choice is whether you want a removable ball or a fixed flange type.
The fixed flange type can be useful as other accessories can be bolted on such as bike carriers etc. or plates to drop or raise the ball.
Do a search on ebay for prices/types and some sellers also have the fitting instructions in the ad.
I started off high and worked my way down ever since

I changed mine for a fixed flange type so I could fit a drop plate, even a small lift causes problems with towing.
Some Suzukis and a bunch of motorcycles.

The detachable (I'm thinking swan neck for my Suzuki Celerio) is more expensive so I wondered if a bolted swan neck was the one to get and I just spend half an hour bolting it on when I need to tow. I don't tow a lot; maybe once every few months.gilburton wrote: The only real choice is whether you want a removable ball or a fixed flange type..

I don't venture out with the trailer lest the weather is fine.

Nothing for the Jimny though.
Just checked quickly on Google. This statement appears to be wrong as the 1st 20 entries for hitch receivers UK are all the same as Hayman-Reece Hitches. Here is an example... www.goldrv.co.uk/parts/20/hitches/1034/receiver-hitch/

To answer the OP, Tow Trust do a Jimny towbar with a flange and it can be fitted without removing the bumper. I've fitted 2 on older Jimnys and not having to remove the bumper was a big advantage as I never have any luck removing bodywork with rusty fixings.

Find one for a jimny that has been type approved in the UK?
I'm talking about the actual towbar.
That is what I meant by illegal. Most of the ones listed in that link are for large american type trucks.
Of course if you are bolting on a normal towbar or ball that is ok
I prefer the flanged type as I use an older type friction damper on the caravan and it's useful for bolting on a motorcycle/ trike towing bracket.
I must admit it would be useful to have a removable swan neck especially when you clobber your shin on it lol
