Abs light on in the rain? was created by Justin83
Hey everyone, slightly annoying problem of abs light coming on when it's raining, guessing this is a common fault?
What is likely the cause? Water in the plugs?
My plan is to use some electrical spray grease on them...
Unlikely it's actually The sensor letting water in right?
It's vaguely annoying for me but as the missus ferry's our 2yr old around its a little dangerous to have no abs in the rain.

Fair do's but cars have ran for years without that system and if care and attention is used in whatever conditions all should be well.

Abs has saved millions of lives mate, plus the light is annoying... are you suggesting leaving it!?

I think Mick means that simply because the abs light is on, it doesn't mean the car will immediately crash and everybody will die.

However, there is a connector hidden above the driver's knees that you bridge to get the abs lamp to flash out what it thinks the problem was- it stores historic codes

12 = everything is awesome!

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)

Thank you façade for clarifying my entry. It seems some people take every comment to the extreme instead of actually reading what is written in the context of the discussion. And besides if the ABS does show a warning it means that system is switched off but full normal brakes are working so if car is driven properly in the conditions pending then there is no reason for the car to skid. Of course the system needs fixing but it does not stop the car being used.

Lol, the way I read it is that you would leave it, no hard feelings but we are talking about my missus driving the car!-) I cleaned the connectors I could release today, it seems someone has wax oiled the jim before glueing all the connectors! Done three of the rear and sprayed wd40 all over the sensors themselves.
Thanks for that facade great help, I will do that in a while, anyway to wipe the codes?

Is left front passenger or driver side UK? I.e looking at the car from the front or sitting in it?

Well I've had the wheel and disc off, layed under and had a look at the wire. There isn't any obvious damage although the sensor was filthy, gave it all a clean up and wire brushed the abs teeth off and the light is still coming on... uuuurgh:-(
I guess replacing the ridiculously over priced front sensor assembly is next.
Did anyone ever try splicing in a rear sensor or that Mazda one that looks the same?
